The City of Phoenix is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader for the position of Housing Director. The Housing Department serves as the Public Housing Authority for the City of Phoenix and the Housing Director manages and directs the activities of the department for the fifth largest city in the country. The Department provides diversified living environments for low-income families; seniors and people with disabilities by operating and leasing federally assisted and affordable housing. The Housing Director oversees an annual Operating Budget of $118 million, a Capital Improvement Budget (CIP) of $37 Million and a professional staff of 135 working in Public Housing Operations and Maintenance, Affordable Housing Property Management, Resident Supportive Services, Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Administration, and Housing Development. The Housing Director is responsible to implement the City Council adopted 2020 Affordable Housing Strategy, Housing Phoenix and will be expected to interact personally in a positive and timely manner with elected officials, stakeholders and residents.  This position exercises considerable initiative and independent judgment and works under the general supervision of a Deputy City Manager.
